Who decides how many sessions I can get?

The number of EAP sessions is determined by the type of model your employer requests. Typical models are 3, 5, 6, or 8 session models.

What happens when I exceed the number of counseling sessions my employer provides to me?

Your EAP counselor will work with your insurance company to provide a referral to another therapist or mental health care professional to ensure you are able to continue receiving counseling services after your EAP sessions have expired. Some of the EAP therapists are providers for many insurance companies. If your therapist is a provider for your insurance carrier, you may be able to continue beyond your EAP sessions with the same therapist.

Can I request a male or female counselor?

Profile EAP has both male and female counselors. Please let the office staff know if you have a preference when you make your initial appointment.

How can I be assured my manager and/or co-workers will not find out that I am utilizing my EAP benefit?

The cornerstone of an employee assistance program is confidentiality. You will sign a confidentiality agreement upon your first visit. Profile EAP is prohibited from discussing your case with anyone or even acknowledging that you have received EAP services. The only time confidentiality is breached is in cases of child/elder abuse or threat of harm to self, others or property.

What type of counseling does EAP offer?

Profile EAP counselors are specially trained in brief solution-focused therapy. This type of therapy is designed to help you find immediate solutions to the problems you may be dealing with. Although EAP may not be able to "solve" your problem or issue, you will receive helpful direction, advice and tools to begin the process.
